Because the ball material is crucial for its quality and performance, Saluc uses only phenolic resin produced in its own plant. As such, it has full control over each of the basic material specifications that determine the playing characteristics. The 13-step production process lasts 23 days and includes casting and curing processes combined with unique grinding and state-of-the-art polishing technology.
Throughout the production process, computerized technology continuously interfaces with and assists our craftsmanship to guarantee tight diameter tolerance and sphericity throughout each Aramith ball set. Computerization of color formulations and number engraving guarantees precisely crafted billiard balls. Therefore, every replacement ball will match up perfectly with any set!
Regardless of the many automated and statistical quality controls used to guarantee tight specifications, each ball is still checked manually before leaving the factory to provide the worldwide distribution network with reliable output. Quality also means respect for our environment. Saluc maintains a full water treatment facility that incorporates environment-friendly processes with sophisticated recycling technology.
Rather than a polyester number-plug-design, the Aramith concept has the numbers precision-engraved in a solid core that runs all the way through the ball. As such, it is impossible for number-cores to fall out over time. Using phenolic resin assures homogeneous characteristics in each ball part. So homogeneous that when finally getting to its breaking point (and one needs minimum a 5 ton-load in case of an Aramith ball), the ball will break up totally at random—and not along the parting line between the stripe and the rest of the ball, as one would expect.
Hitting a cue ball actually accelerates it from 0 to over 30 km/h (20 MPH) in just a fraction of a second. The resulting friction temperature between ball and cloth can easily reach 250°c (482°F). That's why Aramith balls are the only ones made from genuine phenolic resin: their molecular structure is engineered to be wear resistant at these high temperatures, making Aramith balls far less vulnerable to abrasive burn spots. They hold their high luster and smoothness over a much longer period of time, resulting in minimal ball and table cloth wear.
Because hitting the balls is the essence of the billiard game, impact resistance is a critical factor. Aramith's phenolic heat-curing process fully stabilizes material tensions. It produces a vitrified high-density surface that offers maximum impact resistance. Tests show Aramith phenolic balls to withstand over 50 times more impact than other polymer or polyester balls. They are also twice more scratch-resistant.
Consequently, when intensively used even on less maintained tables, Aramith balls are clearly far less easily damaged than others by pocket fixings, table mechanisms, or cue sticks.
The Aramith product line includes two main quality levels, defined basically by the different types of Aramith resin that are used and the quality control specifications linked to it.
Aramith Premier (green box)
While less wear-resistant than the Super Aramith sets, the Aramith Premier sets still offers a lifetime of up to 5 times longer than the other materials.
Each ball is controlled along 7 criteria: density, balance, diameter tolerance, sphericity, color, surface polish, and brilliance. All numbers are engraved to very tight specifications.
Super Aramith, Super Aramith PRO and Aramith Tournament Champion are the top of the product line.
Produced to the most exacting tolerances and standards, every ball in these sets is, on top of the multiple regular controls, individually calipered to ensure maximum consistency from ball to ball in order to constitute a homogeneous matched set for true excellence at play.
The resins used in these top-quality sets even further maximize the ball and cloth life. Their transparent vitrified surface is through-hardened, allowing the balls to hold their specifications over an unusually long period of time.
It is this unique quality level that made these sets to be the favorite products used internationally in tournaments and championships.
While most other polymer and polyester balls try to imitate the look and/or packaging of the Aramith product line, none offer the quality of phenolic resin. Beautiful in the box, most look quite different only a few hours later.
Beware of imitations and check for the Aramith logo and/or the Aramith name on the box to be sure you've got a genuine Aramith phenolic ball set.
Constant density and balance are of the essence to control speed, direction, spin, impact, and rebound in the game. Through-hardened phenolic resin offers the unique advantage of a completely stabilized material with homogeneous density dispersion throughout each Aramith ball. With the center of gravity at the center of the ball, the resulting ultimate balance guarantees a perfectly true and accurate roll.
Far more important than ball tolerances are the balls' rebound capacities. Only predictable rebounds allow strategic repositioning of the cue ball to optimize the following shot. The unique elasticity of the phenolic Aramith resin has been calibrated to offer the optimal level of rebound to allow players to fully control the effect of every shot.
Whether you are a home-owner likely to buy a ball set that has to satisfy for a very long time or a commercial table owner looking to control costs and maximize profits, Aramith balls are designed and manufactured to provide the satisfaction you demand.
Pool, snooker, carom, yotsudama, casino,... with over 800 different billiards balls in production, Aramith has a complete product line available in different quality and price levels.
Beautiful colors and numbers, heavy-duty design, ultimate precision and exceptional longevity were designed into the Super Aramith Pro pool ball set to meet the trade requirements in quality and cost.
Endorsed by the World Professional Billiard and Snooker Association (WPBSA), the Tournament Champion is the leading product on the snooker scene. Its unique high density of 1.87 is widely recognized as the key to excellent play.
Carom may well be considered the most sophisticated discipline of billiards. Most world champions train and play with the Super Aramith Tournament set because the unsurpassed performance of these balls allows them to consistently reach new record heights.
