Simonis cloth naturally repels liquids because we use the finest worsted wool, an optimal thread count, and a proprietary manufacturing process. This keeps liquids from penetrating the cloth and allows spills to be cleaned up quickly without staining or damaging the playfield.
Some cloths have entered the market with a "new" feature... stain resistance. These cloths require chemical processes to achieve the ability to resist liquid spills. Unfortunately, the chemical treatment reduces the accuracy and predictability of the cloth, negatively impacting your game.
A new feature? Resisting liquid spills has always been a part of Simonis cloth. We do not chemically treat Simonis 860 and 760 cloth, because chemical treatments could actually reduce the accuracy and quality of these cloths.
Marks left on the surface of the cloth that are usually white in color are referred to as ball burns. Simonis' high wool content helps to reduce the appearance of these marks, and we also recommend using phenolic balls to further reduce the appearance of ball burns.
Ball burns from polyester balls are actually marks left on the cloth from the degradation of the surface of the ball itself. Phenolic balls are much harder and are more resistant to heat than polyester balls. As always, the cloth and the balls should be clean.
Any residue that has built up on the ball will leave marks on the cloth. Simple maintenance will prolong the life of your cloth, the aesthetic appearance of your table, and your enjoyment of your game.
D & R Industries, Inc. began in 1963 as a result of Dennis Ruber's and Richard Utanoff's vision (hence the name D & R). With nothing more than a telephone, working out of Richard's mother's bedroom in a small apartment in Chicago, Dennis and Richard began an amusement industry parts distribution business.
Through the years, D & R Industries, Inc. went through many changes and expanded into a variety of recreation-oriented businesses, but found its niche within the billiard industry. After distributing billiard fabrics (along with other billiard supplies) for more than 25 years, it was clear to Dennis Ruber that there was a need for affordable high-quality billiard fabrics.
The decision was made to switch from a billiard parts distribution business to become a manufacturer of high-quality billiard fabrics. A team consisting of engineers, textile experts and old-time billiard people worked together to develop what is now known as the "Championship Line" of billiard fabrics. Manufacturing billiard fabrics since 1990, Championship now sells more billiard fabric than all of its major competitors combined.
The tremendous success of Championship billiard fabrics confirmed the belief that our industry not only wants, but also needs high-quality products at affordable prices. With that basic premise in mind, our experts got together to develop a line of high-quality, affordable billiard cushions.
Engineers and experts at Championship have been working hard over the last five years to develop the finest billiard cushion rubber in the industry. All their hard work has paid off! Championship, as of 2002, is now a supplier of the most accurate billiard cushion rubber ever made for the billiard industry. Our testing has clearly shown that the accuracy of this product is unmatched. Though in its infancy, Championship's cushion rubber can already be found on the tables of many of today's major billiard table manufacturers.
You have made a wise choice in selecting the finest, most durable billiard cloth preferred by the most discriminating amateur and professional players.
To assure that optimum performance is obtained we recommend you follow closely these installation instructions.
At the side pockets there may be a small pucker at the center. This will disappear in step 17.
The groove in the top rail and the featherstrip are cut for lighter grade cloth. To allow for a full range of cloth grades, removing material from the featherstrip may be required.
Never try to tap a featherstrip flush with just a hammer as it will certainly dent the rail surface behind the feather strip.
